Railpass for: Berlin - Munich; Munich - Heidelberg - Munich

Hello, my wife and I are traveling from Berlin to Munich, and then a round trip from Munich to Heidelberg and back to Munich. I was looking at the 3 days in 1 month rail pass and was wondering if this will cover all of our transportation. I just wanted to make sure the DB train rides that have transfers will be fully covered. Thanks!

    Hi Max,

A rail pass covers the ticket costs for trains running ‘inter-city’ between different cities within the country or countries included on the pass. The German Rail Pass does cover the ticket costs for each of the routes you mentioned.

For the German Rail Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/german-rail-pass/index.html.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering a route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a 'German Rail Pass'). With that said, the German network has been going down from time to time. If nothing displays when you do your search, you would call us to book the reservations. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

If the German network is down when you do your search, you'll see an error message like the following:

    Berlin to Munich

Trains from Berlin to Munich are high-speed ICE (InterCity Express) trains or regular IC (InterCity) trains. On these trains, reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to the rail pass. Generally, trains from Berlin to Munich can be reserved within 180 days of an intended departure date.

    Munich to Heidelberg

Direct trains from Munich to Heidelberg are EC (EuroCity) trains. Reservations are also highly recommended on these trains. Generally, trains from Munich to Heidelberg can be reserved within 180 days of an intended departure date.

    Heidelberg to Munich

Direct trains from Heidelberg to Munich are EC (EuroCity) trains. Once again, reservations are recommended and can be booked once within 180 days of an intended departure.
