Rail pass or point to point tickets for Barcelona-Madrid, Madrid-Benicasim, and Benicasim-Barcelona?

We are traveling in July/august, 2 adults and 2 x 14 year olds. Planning to travel: Barcelona-Madrid, Madrid-Benicasim, , Benicasim-Barcelona on 3 separate days. Would it be cheaper to buy point to point tickets or a renfe pass?

    Hi Erica,

For the requested itinerary, your best option would just be to purchase regular tickets.

You would purchase tickets by searching a route under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com.

Trains from Barcelona to Madrid are high-speed AVE trains. The ride from Barcelona to Madrid only takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.

From Madrid to Benicasim, there are AVE trains, as well as an InterCity train and an Alvia train. Currently, only the InterCity train and the Alvia train from Madrid to Benicasim are able to be booked through our website. If you'd like to inquire about booking tickets for one of the AVE trains on this route, you would have to call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays. The ride from Madrid to Benicasim takes 3.5 to 4 hours.

From Benicasim to Barcelona, there are Talgo trains. The ride takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.

Generally, trains in Spain can be booked once within 90 days of an intended departure date.
