Reservation Issues

Hello,
Me and 3 of my friends recently purchased a 15 day global rail train pass to visit europe. Currently we are in israel for 2 weeks, then heading to greece for 2 weeks and then a week in rome. At this time around Jule 30th we plan to activate our train pass and travel. we went to purchase train reservations in israel for the following:
rome to la spezia
florence to zurich
zurich to mannheim
vienna to prague
munich to vienna
when we went to do this the only country in which the passes could be sent was the US. if we go to th israeli site to have them sent to where we are staying in israel the money is in sheckels? for the tickets we want to reserve it will not let us print at station or print from email. what do you recommend we do? i cannot think of a solution and we need to make a reservation ASAP! thank you

  • Hello Lauren,
Sounds like a great trip you and your friends are planning. The routes you mentioned do not allow electronic reservations and therefore must be issued as paper ticket reservations. We can certainly set this up for you and ship them to Europe via UPS if you like. You can reach us by calling 800-438-7245 and we'll be happy to set this up for you. We are available Monday - Friday, 8am to 7.30pm and Saturday and Sundays 8am to 4pm Central Time.
    Hope this helps.
    Nicola

  • I’m frustrated
That would be helpful, but we are trying to keep the cost of the trip low so how much would it cost to have the tickets sent to Israel in order to get here in 2 weeks. Also, is there no way we can do it online because calling from Israel to the US is very expensive. Would it be feasible to purchase tickets from the ISraeli rail europe site in order to avoid shipping across the ocean. Can we do that even though we are citizens of the US. third, would it be a bad decision to make reservations one week in advance at the train station when we arrive in rome. we want to find the cheapest and most effective option. thanks

  • Hi Lauren,
Since you are in Isreal, I would recommend going to www.raileurope-world.com and then select the country you are in in order to book tickets. This way it will ensure that you get your tickets before you travel.
Otherwise, the only other way would be to book through us and have the tickets sent to you in Italy to your first hotel. If you have any one here in the states that can contact us to book your tickets and then we can forward them to Europe instead of Isreal, we can do that as well.
I hope this informaiton is helpful to you and look forward to you booking your tickets through Rail Europe. Have a great day!

  • Thank you for your response. I tried rail europe world and it is still saying i am in Israeli citizen. When I go to the US site it will only let me sent it to the USA. Another member from rail europe recommended that I just get the reservations a week before at the rome train station. would you not recommend doing that? how does it work to reserve at the station itself? it is the same price? thank you!

    Hi Lauren,

If you are not able to book on http://www.raileurope.co.il/, and you are not willing to call us to arrange for your rail documents to be shipped to you abroad, then your only option would be to purchase tickets for your rail travel locally upon arrival. We would generally recommend purchasing tickets in advance, prior to departing for Europe, if you had not already left.

To purchase tickets, you would go the ticket window in the station upon your arrival to Rome.

Otherwise, you can call us at 1-847-916-1028 or 1-800-622-8600 to arrange for delivery to an address in Israel before you head over to Europe.

I'm sorry, however, we do not have any information regarding what the price of tickets would be if purchased locally.
