Reservation not compatible with pass

While searching for travel using Eurail Select 3-country pass, some of the rates have a notation that state "there were no reservations that are compatible with your rail pass." Does this mean that I cannot make a reservation with the Eurail Select 3-country pass? The trips for these passes are going to be from Rotterdam to Frankfurt (one-way) and Frankfurt to Copenhagen (one-way).

    Hi,

    Please disregard the message that states "we are unable to find reservations that are compatible with your rail pass" as that is completely false. We are very sorry for any confusion. We hope to have that verbiage changed very soon. Rail passes are valid on all of the trains you mentioned.

    With regard to your trip from Rotterdam to Frankfurt, the connection would involve changing trains once in Utrecht along the way. Rail passes that include the Benelux are valid on the trains from Rotterdam to Utrecht, these trains just don't accept reservations. Therefore, the rail pass is all you would need to board one of these trains. We apologize that the message on our website didn't communicate this point. For some of these trains, it may even say that reservations are recommended, which is not the case. All trains from Rotterdam to Utrecht are trains that don't accept reservations and are covered with a rail pass that includes the Benelux. For planning purposes, you can just check schedules for the trains from Rotterdam to Utrecht by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com, but you would not purchase reservations.

    For the connecting trains from Utrecht to Frankfurt, the same error message is displaying if you indicate that you'll be traveling with a Eurail Select Pass and you wouldn't be able to proceed to purchase these reservations; however, the reservation costs do display if you just indicate that you'll be traveling with a 'Eurail Global Pass' and you would be able to proceed to purchase the reservations. Therefore, you can just say that you'll be traveling with a Eurail Global Pass for the purpose of purchasing the reservations. When you're on the train, you would show the reservations that you purchase and your Eurail Select Pass to the conductor when he or she comes by your seat. Reservations are highly recommended on the trains from Utrecht to Frankfurt.

    With regard to your trip from Frankfurt to Copenhagen, the connection would involve changing trains once in Hamburg along the way. The reservations for these trains should be able to be booked under 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on our website if you indicate that you'll be traveling with the Eurail Select Pass (one that includes Germany and Denmark). You should'nt have to say that you're traveling with a Eurail Global Pass for the reservation costs to be quoted to you. If you do happen to receive that error message, then try saying that you'll be traveling with a Eurail Global Pass, as you would do for the Utrecht to Frankfurt train. If the reservation costs still don't display, then please call us at 1-800-622-8600. Reservations are highly recommended on the trains from Frankfurt to Hamburg and the trains from Hamburg to Copenhagen.

    Once again, we are sorry for all the confusion and misinformation on our website with regard to these routes.
