Reservation requirement on train from Stuttgart to Augsburg?

We are planning to buy a global pass. On one day of our trip we want to go from Stuttgart to Fussen. At the time we want to leave, the first train we'd take is the Inter City Express 591 (to Augsburg). Does this train require a reservation? Or do you just jump on if you have the global pass?

    Hi Amber,

The Inter City Express (ICE) trains are the only high-speed trains in Europe that do not necessarily require reservations, however, reservations are still highly recommended on these trains, especially during the busy Spring and Summer travel season. I would recommend booking a reservation to take this train from Stuttgart to Augsburg. You can do so by clicking on 'Book a Reservation for Your Pass' from the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.

The connecting trains from Augsburg to Fussen are regional trains that do not accept reservations, so the rail pass is all you would need to board for this segment.

Reservable trains in Germany can be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure.
