Round Trip AVE from Madrid to Barcelona

Hi, I am planning to have a stay in Barcelona in mid-December. I would travel a round trip (22 Dec - 23 Dec) between Madrid and Barcelona. Understand that there shall be at least 62-day advance purchase for train ticket. I prefer short travelling time, say 2-3hrs which I learnt from blogs online. However, I just randomly searched for train arrangement in early Dec and found that most of the available dates in Dec are indirect train which requires approx. 6hrs duration for travelling time. May I know the train schedule for 22 Dec and 23 Dec in advance and where can I find it? I hope I can know more about the train schedule so that I should have a better travelling arrangement. Thanks.

Generally, trains in Spain can be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure. However, this is the time of year when the annual 'Winter Schedule Changes' occur with some of the rail networks and train operators in Europe. As a result of the 'Winter Schedule Changes', many trains operating after December 10th have not yet been posted in the international booking system, including trains between Madrid and Barcelona.

We expect the schedules for trains operating after December 10th to be released some time by mid-November at the latest (but hopefully before then), at which point you would be able to purchase the tickets. I would recommend checking your actual travel dates periodically in the meantime. Once you see the routes display for dates after December 10th, you will be able to proceed to purchase your tickets. For right now, you can use a date some time in October or November in order to get an idea of the ticket costs and schedules.
