Is the pass valid on S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains in Stuttgart?

Is the Europe rail pass valid for these S trains and the U trains in Stuttgart?

  • Hi Jackie,

While it is generally the case that rail passes do not cover metro/public transit networks within European cities, the S-Bahn network in Germany is an exception. Any rail pass that includes Germany does cover S-Bahn trains in Stuttgart and other German cities (with the 'exception within the exception' just being certain S-Bahn lines in Berlin).

Unlike the S-Bahn, Germany's U-Bahn trains are not covered by rail passes.

Otherwise, for the single country German Rail Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/german-rail-pass/index.html.
