    Hi Laurie,

A connection from Scotland to Heidelberg would involve at least 3 train changes along the way; once in London, once in Brussels, and then once in Frankfurt. Trains to London from Scotland would depart from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. An entire connection from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Heidelberg would take at least about 11.5 to 12 hours in duration.

Also, a Eurail Global Pass would not cover trains from Edinburgh to London or Glasgow to London, as it is only valid in continental Europe. Therefore, you would purchase regular tickets for a train from Edinburgh or Glasgow to London by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.

With the Eurail Global Pass, your daughter would be eligible to receive a 'Passholder' fare for a ticket on the 'Eurostar' train from London to Brussels. You would purchase tickets at the Passholder rate on the Eurostar by clicking on 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on the homepage of our website, just as you would to purchase reservations on other trains. This train can sell out quickly, so it would be recommended that the tickets be purchased as soon as possible.

A Eurail Global Pass covers connecting trains from Brussels to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Heidelberg. Reservations would just be highly recommended on the trains from Brussels to Frankfurt ('InterCity Express' trains), in addition to the rail pass. You would purchase reservations for a train from Brussels to Frankfurt under 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on our homepage.

In contrast, it is not necessary at all to purchase reservations on a train from Frankfurt to Heidelberg. The Eurail Global Pass would be all that's needed to board. For planning purposes, you can just view schedules for trains from Frankfurt to Heidelberg by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage instead of 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations'.
