Seat reservation challenges due to French strike

I'm trying to make a reservation from Paris to Valencia, Spain but Eurail references a strike in France in April and May. I don't understand why this notice would come up considering its June. Is there a solution to this and making a seat reservation?

    Hi Jim,

It should also say 'June' there, because the strike is through June, as well.

The rail network of France lists the following dates in June as being when the strike is most likely to affect travel: June 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, and 28th.

If you book a ticket and your train ends up being canceled due to the strikes, you have two options:

1 ) You can wait and go the ticket window in the station to see if they can arrange another way for you to get to your destination.

2 ) Otherwise, you can request a refund by sending an email to customercare@raileurope.com. For refund requests submitted after your travel date, you would need to get your ticket stamped as "Not Used" by a railway official at the station.

The connection from Paris to Valencia takes 10.5 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Barcelona along the way.

You would purchase tickets by searching a route under 'Tickets & Reservations' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com. For a trip from Paris to Valencia, you would piece together the connection by doing a separate search for each segment. Therefore, you would do one search from Paris to Barcelona and another search for connecting trains from Barcelona to Valencia.

Trains from Paris to Barcelona are France-Spain High Speed trains.

Trains from Barcelona to Valencia are Euromed trains.
