Best option for Spain - Madrid-Barcelona-San Sebastian-Madrid?

Hello I am planning to travel to Madrid- Barcelona- San Sebastian- and then back to Madrid, all within 10 days at the end of May.
What would be the best option for my trip?
If I were to purchase the Spain Rail Pass.. would I have to purchase the 10 day validity?

The Eurail Spain Pass is what is known as a 'flexipass' that would be valid for a certain number of travel days over the course of 2 months. Specifically, the Eurail Spain Pass would be offered for your choice of 3 to 10 travels, which would have to be completed within a 2 month time frame.

To determine your overall most economical option, you would want to calculate the cumulative total of the regular ticket costs for all your trips.

You can check regular point-to-point ticket costs by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website, The pass to compare the total to; however, would not be the Eurail Spain Pass. I would instead recommend comparing the total you come up with for point-to-point tickets to that of the brand-new 'Renfe Spain Pass'.

Unlike all of our other rail passes, including the 'Eurail Spain Pass', the Renfe Spain Pass is electronic (you would receive an email from us with a link to print the pass) and reservation costs would be included. Considering that reservations would be a supplementary cost to the Eurail Spain Pass, the Renfe Spain Pass would generally be the most economical option for multiple train travels in Spain.

You can check the costs of the Renfe Spain Pass by clicking here:

This pass is also distinguishable from our other passes in that it would be purchased for 'segments', as opposed to 'travel days'. A segment refers to each individual train you would be taking. The minimum number of segments offered on this pass, however, is 4. Therefore, for the itinerary you described, you would purchase the Renfe Spain Pass for '4 Segments in 1 Month' even if you'll only be taking 3 different trains.

For planning purposes, you can still just check schedules for your trips by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website.
