Based in London & would like to travel to the continent on the Eurostar London-Paris

I am staying in London for study abroad from September-December. However, I want to explore France and Italy for sure and possibly Spain and Germany. Since I'm not on the continent will I need to purchase a Eurostar ticket to Paris or mainland Europe every time I want to travel in France and Italy? Also, in my situation should I purchase a France-Italy pass or a select pass?

    HI Rodney,

Yes, in order to get from London to mainland Europe, you would need to take the Eurostar from London to Paris. From there you can connect to anywhere in Europe. Please note that traveling from Paris to Milan can take about 7 1/2 hours.

You can check current fares and schedules on our website at www.raileurope.com and put in a date of travel within 90 days as it is too early to book your trips for later this year.

    Thank you,
    Jen

  • Thanks Jen, for those with a France-Italy pass aren't there discounts for the Eurostar to Paris?

    Hi Rodney,

Yes, the Eurail France-Italy Pass would enable travelers to receive a 'Passholder' fare for a ticket on the Eurostar between London and Paris.

You would purchase tickets at the Passholder rate on the Eurostar by clicking on 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on the homepage of our website.

The Eurostar is unique in that it can generally be booked up 6 to 9 months in advance of a departure. The Passholder rates sell out quickly, so it would be recommended that the tickets be purchased as soon as possible.

      IMPORTANT UPDATE

As of this month (April 2018):

The following rail passes no longer qualify passengers to receive ‘passholder’ rates for reservations on the Eurostar:

Any single country Eurail Pass, including:

      • Eurail France Pass
      • Eurail Benelux Pass

Any 2 country option of Eurail Select Pass, including:

      • Eurail France-Italy Pass
      • Eurail France-Switzerland Pass
      • Eurail France-Germany Pass
      • Eurail Benelux-France Pass
      • Eurail France-Spain Pass
      • Eurail Benelux-Germany Pass

BritRail Passes and the France-Italy combination of the 2 country Eurail Select Pass continue to not be valid on the Eurostar.

Passengers traveling with any of these rail passes would need to purchase regular tickets to take the Eurostar.

Passholder rates will continue to be offered (depending on availability) to any passenger traveling with a Eurail Global Pass, a 3 country Eurail Select Pass (that includes the country of arrival or departure, be it France or the Benelux), or a 4 country Eurail Select Pass (that includes the country of arrival or departure, be it France or the Benelux).
