Hello,

I want to purchase a swiss pass for 4 days. The price for 2nd class ticket is USD594. I will be visiting zurich to st. gallen, then st. gallen to Interlaken, then Interlaken to Jungfrau return journey, and then Interlaken to Paris. Will my whole journey in switzerland, including in Junfrau, be covered in this pass ?

  • Hi,

The Swiss Pass would cover you from Zurich to St. Gallen and from St Gallen to Interlaken.

For a trip up to Jungfraujoch from Interlaken, you would be covered as far as Wengen or Grindelwald. With the Swiss Pass, you would still have to purchase the 'Grindelwald or Wengen-Jungfraujoch/Swiss Pass' option of the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe pass. To purchase this pass, you would click here: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/....

The 'Jungfraujoch Top of Europe' pass is an open voucher that you would use to hop on any of the trains up to Jungfraujoch and back. The roundtrip between Grindelwald or Wengen and Jungfraujoch would just have to be completed within a 24 time period once you begin the journey. A one-way between Interlaken and Jungfraujoch only takes about 2.5 hours in duration at the minimum (between Grindelwald or Wengen and Jungfraujoch, it would take only 1.5 hours).

A trip from Interlaken to Paris involves changing trains once in Basel along the way. The Swiss Pass would cover you from Interlaken to Basel.

You would then purchase a regular ticket for your train from Basel up to Paris. You would purchase this ticket by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com. Trains from Basel to Paris can be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure. Due to high demand, trains on this route are popular and can sell out quickly, so it would be recommended that you purchase the tickets as soon as it becomes possible.

I wish to know that will I get a 50% discount in fare from Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch. Its mentioned on the website that we are given 50 % dicount in most mountain-top trains.

"This pass also covers scenic routes and local trams and buses in 41 towns and cities and will offer 50% reduction all most mountain-top trains and cable cars. The Swiss Pass will also include the Swiss Museum Pass, allowing you free entrance to over 400 museums and exhibitions."

    Thanks

  • Hi Akshay,

When purchasing a ticket to the Jungfraujoch with a Swiss Pass or a Swiss Transfer Ticket, you will only receive a 25% discount. When you purchase the Swiss Pass, you will be sent a map which will show you the specific discounts for the various cable cars, boats, and mountain peaks for which discounts will apply.

    Thank you,
    Jen
