Is the Lucerne-Interlaken Express comparable to the Golden Pass? Do they have observation cars? Are reservations required with my Swiss Pass?

I understand that no reservation is needed for the Lucerne - Interlaken Express if you have a Swiss pass. Is the train comparable to the Golden Pass trains (as far as observation cars, etc.) which does require a reservation. which would you recommend?

    Hi Walter,

All direct trains between Lucerne and Interlaken now have the observation cars and panoramic views. Also, all of these trains do operate along the GoldenPass scenic line. Reservations are only recommended, not required, on these trains.

For travel with a rail pass, you can purchase reservations on one of these trains by clicking on 'Book your Rail Pass Reservations' on the homepage of our website, www.raileurope.com.

These trains can only be booked within 90 days of an intended date of departure. If your intended travel happens to fall outside of this time frame, you would just enter a date within the next 90 days to get an idea of the reservation costs and view schedules when searching the route on our site.

  • Hi

I want to take the golden pass line from lucerne, I'm travelling from lucerne to geneva, so if I take the golden pass line how much time would it take to reach geneva when compared to a direct train from lucerne to geneva, also which is the most beautiful route along the golden pass line.

    Thanks in advance
