Take right at Chur, so as to not have to purchase additional ticket to cover from Disentis to Visp

Is it more economical to travel Select Pass from St. Moritz to chur to Zurich to Luzurn to Interlaken instead of from St. Moritz to chur to Visp to Interlaken? Seems to me this would eliminate the additional cost from Disentis to Visp. Is this right?

  • Hi Bob,

That's correct. For travel from Chur to Visp, the Eurail Select Pass would only cover as far as Disentis, so a separate ticket would need to be purchased to cover the portion of this route from Disentis to Visp.

If you were to do as you suggest and travel from Chur to Zurich, Zurich to Lucerne and Lucerne to Interlaken, you would not be traveling on any rail lines that aren't covered by the Eurail Select Pass, so you would not have to purchase any additional tickets. The Eurail Select Pass would be sufficient to cover you the whole way.

Since you'll be in Interlaken, I imagine you'll be going up to the peak of Jungfraujoch. To do this, you would purchase the 'Jungfraujoch Top of Europe' mountaintop excursion. This would cover you for travel via a cogwheel railway up to Kleine Scheidegg and then the famous Jungfrau railway through the Eiger Tunnel up to the peak of Jungfraujoch. You can purchase this pass by clicking here: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/....

Since you would be traveling with a Eurail Select Pass, you would purchase the 'Interlaken-Jungfraujoch/Eurail Pass' option of this pass.
