    Hi Amanda,

Please disregard that error message. Rest assured, your rail pass is valid on the route, and that error message does not accurately reflect the availability. Sorry for any confusion.

However, unless you take the route via Paris, passholder reservations on some of the trains that comprise of a connection from Amsterdam to Zurich are currently not able to be booked on our website. Instead, to purchase the reservations, you would have to call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

A connection from Amsterdam to Zurich involves changing trains at least once in either Mannheim, Hanover, or Paris.

If you take the route via Paris, you would just have to break up your search in Paris. Therefore, you would do one search for trains from Amsterdam to Paris and then another search for connecting trains from Paris to Zurich. Trains from Amsterdam to Paris are high-speed Thalys trains, and trains from Paris to Zurich are high-speed TGV Lyria trains.

When you pull up the results of these searches, you will see that trains from Amsterdam to Paris arrive into the Paris Nord station, while the train from Paris to Zurich departs from the Paris Gare de Lyon station. To commute from Nord to Gare de Lyon, you would take Line D of Paris's RER commuter rail network. The ride from Nord to Gare de Lyon only takes about 8 minutes, and the trains depart once every 7-15 minutes throughout the day, but I would still recommend allowing yourself at least 1 to 1.5 hours to transfer between stations.. You would pay to board the RER locally when you’re there.

If you prefer to take a route via Mannheim or Hanover, just be sure to call us.
