The site won't allow me to book Paris to Ghent with my rail pass. It only gives me regular tickets.

I have a 3 country pass. Why can't I book a reservation from Paris to Ghent? (both countries on my pass) I can buy tickets but the site says that I can't book a pass reservation, only tickets. Same thing happened in trying to book form Ghent to Amsterdam.

    Hi Betsy,

Connections from Paris to Ghent involve changing trains once in Brussels along the way. Only the trains from Paris to Brussels would require reservations as a supplement to the rail pass. The trains from Brussels to Ghent do not even accept reservations, so the rail pass is all you would need to board. Therefore, you would only book your reservations from Paris to Brussels. The trains from Paris to Brussels are high-speed Thalys trains.

Connections from Ghent to Amsterdam involve changing trains once in Antwerp along the way. Only trains from Antwerp to Amsterdam would require reservations as a supplement to the rail pass. The trains from Ghent to Antwerp do not accept reservations, so the rail pass is all you would need to board. Therefore, you would only book reservations from Antwerp to Amsterdam. The trains from Antwerp to Amsterdam are high-speed Thalys trains.

For travel with a rail pass, you would purchase reservations from Paris to Brussels and Antwerp to Amsterdam by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering the route, and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling. Generally, Thalys trains can be booked once within 90 days of an intended departure date.
