Traveling from Paris to Kaiserslautern. Ticket Exchanges for earlier trains?

If I arrive on a flight from the us at CDG at 11:15am and have a ticket from the Paris Est station to Kaiserslautern on the 5:10 train, and we are able to get to the station before the 1:10pm train to Kaiserslautern leaves can we exchange our ticket to go on the earlier train?

The specific trains you mentioned happen to be trains for which we would issue 'open tickets' to cover the route. Even though a reservation would be issued along with the open ticket for trains on this route, they are issued separately, so you would actually be able to use the open ticket to take another train that day, be it earlier or later. Open tickets are valid to take any single train operating between the cities listed on the ticket for a 1 month time period beginning on the date you performed your search for when you placed your order.

There is also a TGV train along this route for which these open tickets would not be valid on. You can use the open ticket to take any of the 'ICE' trains from Paris to Kaiserslautern, which are the specific trains you mentioned within your question.

You can view a fare's rules and guidelines by clicking on 'Select' listed with the fare when you pull up the results of your search. You would then click 'Read More' where it says 'Ticket Flexibility'.
