Jungfraujoch Top of Europe: Class, hop-on-off?

Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing voucher for "Top of Europe". what's the difference between 1st and 2nd class? is it the seat selection or inclusive meal plan? Also, would I be able to hop on and off any station in the Jungfrau railway?

Thank you.

    Hi SongHee,

There is no meal served on the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe, as these are just short mountain trains. The only segment of a trip from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch that would offer both 1st class and 2nd class is the segment from Interlaken to either Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald or Wengen. The rest of the journey is just considered 2nd class.

On trains in Europe, 1st class offers more comfortable and larger seats, more leg room, and is often less crowded with fewer seats per train car. The 1st class train cars also may tend to be quieter than their 2nd class counterparts.

The 'Jungfrajoch Top of Europe' pass is an open voucher that you would use to hop on any of the trains up to Jungfraujoch and back. The roundtrip between Interlaken, Grindelwald or Wengen and Jungfraujoch would just have to be completed within a 24 time period once you begin the journey.

  • hi,
I purchased the swiss pass and 'jungfraujoch top of europe' voucher from the raileurope site - for my family. What is the procedure to use this voucher to Jungfraujoch - do i still have to make separate reservations? We plan to reach Interlaken on the 26th of July and take the Jungfraujoch trip the following day on the 27th of July. We were worried that by the time we reach Interlaken the trains to Jungfraujoch would all be filled up. How long is the trip up and back , will half a day be enought? Any help with planning this is much appreciated. - thanks

  • Will the France/Switzerland Rail Pass allow me to take day trips from Lyon? Is there a extra fee for the Interlaken/Jungfraujoch rail ride? Or is there a better option for day trip train rides with Lyon, France as a base. My trip is tentatively planned to arrive in Geneva by plane, train to Interlaken, train to Bern, train to Anncey and then to Lyon and back to Geneva.

Thank you very much for any advice,

  • I’m unsure
My family of 4 (Mom, Dad and 2 kids ages 13 & 10) will be purchasing 2 adult Swiss Saver Passes with a Swiss Family Card.for 15 days. On one of these days we want to travel to the top of Jungfrau (Jungfraujoch). It seems that the Swiss Pass will cover our travel only as far as Wengen (or Grindelwald), but beyond Wengen (or Grindelwald) we must purchase train tickets and will receive a 25% discount with the Swiss Pass. My question ... will our children need to purchase tickets beyond Wengen (or Grindelwald) to Jungfraujoch or with the Swiss Family Card cover them for free (they will be traveling with Mom/Dad who purchased tickets at 25% discount).

  • Hi, I am planning to purchase Eurail France-Switzerland Pass. I am assuming that train travel from Zurich to Lucerne should be covered but for travel to places like Mt.Jungfrau, Pilatus or Rigi, these passes offers some discounts but are not 100% covered by the rail pass? Could you please confirm? Also, I plan to travel to Paris from Basel by Eurostar ... does the rail pass I plan to buy cover this travel or is this separate?

  • I have listed below the train rides we (4 adult travellers) expect to take when travelling to switzerland:
    Zurich to Lucerne
    Lucerne to Mt. Pilatus
    Lucerne to Interlaken
    Interlaken to "Top of Europe"
    Interlaken to Zurich

My questions are: 1) Does it make sense to get the Swiss Pass for this travel itinerary
    2) If we do get the Swiss Pass, will it cover all the trains required for this travel itinerary.

    Thanks in advance.

  • We will be in Switzerland using a Select Pass and plan to do some of the private train trips - the chocolate train, Mount Pilatus, and the Jungfrau bahn. I've read that there are discounts for some legs of these while others need reservations, but I can't find anywhere that says if these trains count as a day on our pass (there won't be any other train travel on those days for us). So, will we need to fill in a day on our pass each of these days to get the discounts, or are they independent tickets with a special price for certain customers (similar to senior or student discounts)?

  • Hello, We (two adults) are traveling to Italy and Switzerland in June and are hoping to find the best way to get around between the two countries. Currently the plan is to stay in Como for the first weekend and then travel to Interlaken and hike for several days, ending in Zurich to fly home. Would the Swiss pass cover travel from Como to Interlaken? And would it cover travel from Interlaken to the nearby mountain towns? Is there a better pass option for us to consider? The full length of the trip will be 10 days, 3.5 in Italy, 6.5 in Switzerland. Thank you!

  • I am trying to figure out what the best pass or combination of passes might be for our upcoming trip. We are flying into Zurich and immediately taking the train to Luzern. Then we have: 2 nights Luzern, 5 nights Lauterbrunnen and then we take a train to Innsbruck (2 nights) and finally on to Vienna. You have some 2 for 1 specials in September - our two days in Luzern are in August - the rest of the trip is in Sept. There are two adults traveling together. We will be traveling around the Berner Oberland region quite a bit, but your coverage maps don't give me much detail as to exactly what is covered there. We will likely take the boat ride on Lake Luzern and a boat ride on Lake Thun or Brienz - we probably won't do the Jungfraujoch but we will likely visit other high mountain areas. I am wondering if I am better off just buying tickets for each trip outside of the Lauterbrunnen region and getting a Berner Oberland pass, or whether any of the other Swiss passes like the half fare card or the flexi pass would be to our advantage. I have spreadsheets galore and am totally stuck. Can you help?

  • Good day To Every One, I am Banda Tibor and am 49years old, You Know there are so many of us that are in dire need of financial help and it
just doesn’t seem that people understand our lives and financial situations what ever each of ours are! Do they? they don’t I guess !! I was in very chronic financial and terminal health situation some few months ago after all my search for assistance from friends and neighbors proved abortive and due to this I had to swallow my pride by asking, searching, and always praying for a kind soul out there to help me and my kids who were driving outta school as a result of my inability to take up with their tuition fees properly since their mum was also late and due to this financial stress and rejection Sometimes I feel there is none who really truly cares. I wish that I could win some money so that I could solve my entire immediate family problems but it was all a mere dream as reality became so real to my face when I was unable to pay my light bills, and my food stuff bills and as a result I had no choice but to search for reputable loan agencies online that lease loans out to the needy but all I got was a bunch of scammers as I believed the very second lender I communicated with due to my desperation to get money ASAP and that made me send to him the only one money I had both on earth and in heaven which is $310 usd and after I sent this , they kept on asking for more and this made me mad that i had to shut down that email because i realized shits and i didn’t bother going online to get any help anymore , because I didn’t trust it anymore . I became so emaciated due to lack of good food and my 2 kids age 5 and 8 were not also good looking due to lack of proper care as a result of finance and one morning I saw an old time family fiend of my wife and I told her all I have been through and she said the only way she could help was to direct me to a good loan agency that also helped her and she explained too on how she was financially down and how she got boosted by this loan agency CALLED MR HUBERT PAWEL LOAN SHARKING INVESTMENT: loansharkinginvestment@gmail.com who gave her loan at an affordable rate and she further assured me that they were legit and not scammers and she also told me what was needed to be done { THE COMPANY ADMINISTRATIVE
PROCEDURE} and she also gave me the email address of the MR HUBERT PAWEL LOAN AGENCY: loansharkinginvestment@gmail.com and I contacted them as instructed and by the grace of GOD ALMIGHTY I was also granted my loan funds within 48 HOURS without any stress or problems and this is why I have come here to give out my testimony and to let the people know that there are still real and reputable loan agencies online: loansharkinginvestment@gmail.com .... Contact this great company now using this email address: loansharkinginvestment@gmail.com and tell him that I Banda Tibor gave you his email address to contact as he IS REAL, EFFICIENT, DYNAMIC AND 100% RELIABLE.......
