    Hi Holley,

    Montreux to Zermatt

A connection from Montreux to Zermatt takes just over 2.5 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Visp along the way.

You would view schedules and purchase tickets by searching a route under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com. For a trip from Montreux to Zermatt, you would just have to piece together the connection by doing a separate search for each segment.

Also, when searching for the trains from Montreux to Visp, you would actually have to type 'Brig' as your arrival city instead of 'Visp'. Searches from Montreux to Visp will not turn up any results on our website. Regional trains from Montreux to Brig will stop in Visp right before they get to Brig. When you pull up the results of your search from Montreux to Brig, the regional trains can be distinguished by their train numbers. Regional trains from Montreux to Brig have 4-digit train numbers. The EC trains from Montreux to Brig, which have 2-digit train numbers, will not stop in Visp. For your reference, the regional trains from Montreux to Brig stop in Visp just about 8 minutes before they are shown to be arriving into Brig.

Therefore, when searching tickets and schedules from Montreux to Visp, you would do one search for trains from Montreux to Brig and then another search from Visp to Zermatt.

    Zermatt to Grindelwald

A connection from Zermatt to Grindelwald takes about 3 hours in duration and involves 3 train changes en route; once in Visp, once in Spiez, and then once in Interlaken.

You would view schedules and purchase tickets for the portion from Zermatt to Spiez by doing a search under 'Find Train Tickets' on our homepage, www.raileurope.com.

However, schedules from Spiez to Interlaken and Interlaken to Grindelwald are currently not able to be viewed on our website. For your reference, trains from Spiez to Interlaken depart 2-3 times every hour, and the ride only takes about 25 minutes. Trains from Interlaken to Grindelwald depart twice every hour and the ride takes 34 minutes. Trains from Interlaken to Grindelwald run along the famed 'Bernese Oberland Railway'.
