train transfers - 5 minutes only, will that be sufficient time?

I plan to ride the train from Paris to Lauterbrunnen (Switzerland) with 2 stops. Interval between train change is only 5 minutes.

Will that be sufficient time? I want to make sure I don't miss my next train! Does the train leave the exact time as posted, or there is a couple minutes for baording time?? (I wonder why will this be an option if this is impossible to do.)

Please advise. Thank you!!

    Hello,

A common minimum connection time is 7 to 10 minutes for changing trains at the typical station in Europe. A 5 minute connection time at stations in Switzerland is sufficient due to the great frequency of trains operating within Switzerland (if you happen to miss one, you would just be able to hop on the next one) and the small size of most of the stations. It is ofen coordinated so that trains connect with one another, and trains in Switzerland operate like clockwork.

If you ever do wish to arrange for a connection time of your choosing, you can do a separate search for each segment of the connection on our website.

Please just note that the option to hop on the next train if you happen to miss the first departure only applies to trains operating within Switzerland, since they do not require reservations. Many internationally operating trains between Switzerland and surrounding countries require reservations, and you would need to take the specific train you booked.
