Trains in Slovenia, Austria, & Germany (Ljubljana-Vienna, Vienna-Salzburg, Vienna-Munich)

We need train schedules between Lublyana, Slovenia to Vienna, Vienna to Salzburg and Vienna to Munich, Germany Traveling lAugust,2019 best advice for traveling between these cities

    Ljubljana to Vienna

    There is one direct train from Ljubljana to Vienna in the afternoon. Other connections from Ljubljana to Vienna involve changing trains once in Villach along the way. The connections via Villach and the direct train both take just over 6 hours in duration.

    On the direct train from Ljubljana to Vienna, reservations are highly recommended as a supplement to a rail pass. These are EC (EuroCity) trains.

    Reservations are also recommended on trains from Ljubljana to Villach and Villach to Vienna. The trains from Villach to Vienna are Railjet trains.

    For travel with a rail pass, reservations for the direct train from Ljubljana to Vienna can be purchased by searching the route on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), checking the box that says ‘I have a rail pass’, and then indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a ‘Eurail Global Pass’).

    Reservations for the Railjet trains from Villach to Vienna can also be purchased this way; however, reservations for trains from Ljubljana to Villach are currently only able to be purchased by calling us.     Generally, these trains can only be reserved within 90 days of an intended departure date.

    The path of the direct trains from Ljubljana to Vienna and Villach to Vienna both take you over a famed scenic railway called the Semmering Line for part of the way. The Semmering Line starts around Bruck an der Mur/Mürzzuschlag and ends around Gloggnitz/Wiener Neustadt.

    Vienna to Salzburg

    Trains between Vienna and Salzburg are Railjet trains on which reservations are again going to be recommended as a supplement to a rail pass.
