Trains out of Valencia + does Eurail pass satisfy return ticket or continuation requirements for US citizen?

I'm a 68 year old who will be traveling by freighter to Valencia, Spain in June and then traveling around Europe and the UK for three months. Do you know if a Eurail pass satisfies the return or continuation ticket entry requirements of countries such as Spain? I could conceivably travel on to Malta or another port if that would be simpler, but i would like to tour southern Spain. Additionally, what are the best means of travel, preferably by train or bus, for a Eurail pass holder in southern Spain? Thank you!

    Hi Douglas,

What to purchase for your travels would depend on the specifics of the itinerary itself and various other factors. If you’d like assistance determining the best option for an itinerary, you would call us. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

The rail pass that allows you to choose your countries is the Eurail Select Pass. With a Eurail Select Pass, you can choose from various combinations of 2, 3, or 4 bordering countries. Spain can be included on a Eurail Select Pass. For info on the Eurail Select Pass, you would click here:

The Eurail Global Pass is the pass that covers travel in 28 different European countries, including Spain. For info on the Eurail Global Pass, you would click here:

I'm sorry, there is no rail pass that combines the UK with any country on the mainland continent of Europe.

The UK is only covered by the various 'BritRail Passes'. These include the following:

The BritRail Pass - valid for England, Wales, and Scotland

The BritRail England Pass - valid only in England

The BritRail London Plus Pass - only covers areas in the south of England surrounding London

The BritRail South West Pass - covers only specific areas of southwest England and parts of Wales

You can access these passes here:

There are also other passes just for Scotland.
