Trains and schedules covered by Eurail France-Italy pass questions

Hello, if I purchase a 5 day Italy-France railpass, how will I know which trains I can travel on, what times they leave, and where I make my reservations? I did not see this info provided--website only asked for ages of party members and number of days traveled. Over the course of 10 days we will travel between Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Genoa and Nice. Also--on a few of those days we wish to visit towns around our main destination by train--like traveling from Milan to Venice, we wish to stop in Verona for some sightseeing, before continuing on to Venice. Or once we arrive in Nice, we wish to take a train to Cannes for a day trip...is this allowed, or must we pay extra for these day trips/ detours? These day trips would be taken on the same day of travel, figuring into the five days we'd purchase.

  • Hi Kristen,
Your railpass allows you to travel on the rail networks of the countries covered by the pass you purchase. It does not guarantee you a seat reservation, sleeper, or couchette. To make sure you get the accommodations you desire, you must purchase a reservation. You can do this online at http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/poi....

High speed trains, premier trains offering special services, and overnight trains often require a reservation supplement.

With a railpass you pay a special passholder fare which varies depending on the kind of train and the service offered. The supplement includes the compulsory seat reservation and sometimes a meal aboard the train or other amenities.

Please note that the number of seats available at the special passholder fare is limited. Advance booking is highly recommended.

You can enter in the name of the city and the proper train station will appear.
