  • Hi Liza.

'Italo' trains actually do not run between Rome and the Rome FCO Airport. 'Italo' trains are high-speed trains that only operate along certain major routes in Italy; connecting cities that include Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Milan, Turin, Naples, Salerno, and Padua.

Between the city of Rome and the airport, there are either 'Leonardo Express' trains or 'Regionale' trains. The 'Leonardo Express' trains depart from the Termini station, Rome's main station.

You can book tickets for trains from Rome to the Rome FCO Airport by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage (www.raileurope.com) and entering the route. For tickets and schedules to the Rome FCO Airport, you would just type 'Rome Airport' in the appropriate field. Therefore, you would search for trains from 'Rome' to the 'Rome Airport'.

These particular trains can only be booked once within 60 days of an intended date of departure.

  • Jeff, Thank you for your reply. I already have a reservation on Italo that terminates in Rome-Termini. Now I am going to purchase a ticket from Termini to Rome-Airport and needed to know how much time I need to transfer from Italo to Leonardo Express and if the transfer would be difficult. Thank you again

  • Hi Liza.

A common minimum connection time is 7 to 10 minutes for changing trains at the typical station in Europe; however, I would recommend that you allow yourself more like 15 to 20 minutes for changing trains at the Rome Termini station.

In any case, tickets for the 'Leonardo Express' trains can be used for any train later in the day, should you miss the specific train you choose when you go to book your tickets on our website. The 'Leonardo Express' trains depart once every 30 minutes throughout the day.
