What cities in Ireland have rail?

how can I tell what cities are on the rail in Ireland? I would like to plan a trip without driving and last year I went to Dublin, Cork, Kilarney and Shannon by train. I would like to see other cities in the future.

    Hi Lynne,

For travel around Ireland, you can purchase the Eurail Ireland Pass: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-ireland-pass/index.html.

You can view a map of the rail lines in Ireland by clicking here: https://www.raileurope.com/europe-travel-guide/ireland/map.html.

On this map, you can use the blue bar in the upper left corner to zoom, and you can use your cursor to move around the country.

Sometimes it can help to use Google Map or another detailed map to cross-reference.

If you have questions about a specific destination, please let us know.

Dublin, Cork, and Killarney all have rail stations and can be reached by train.

There is actually no rail station right in Shannon. The closest station to Shannon is Limerick, which is about 20 to 25 km away. There are regular buses from Shannon to Limerick. The operator for this bus service is Bus Éireann.

  • I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to get from Dingle to Galway, with maybe stops on the way. I am going to Dingle from Kinsale via Cork, so that I get. But I cannot find what stations will get me to Galway? I know I will have to take a bus from Dingle to somewhere. Help!
