Travel in Switzerland and Italy via Paris

I am travelling in europe for three weeks this summer. We fly in to Paris, will take a train to normandy for the day, the rest of the itinerary is as follows
train paris to interlaken
Jungfraujoch
train from interlaken to geneva
day trip train to CERN from geneva
train geneva to Lucern
train Mt Pilatus
train Lucern to Como
train Como to Venice

We are a family of 4, one child 14, one 16. We can't determine whether to get a pass or just buy separate tickets. Also, we're having a hard time booking some of these train trips via raileurope. Will I need to buy some tickets via raileurope and some via sbb? Should I buy a swiss pass? If so, will this enable us to take the mountain trains in Interlaken and Lucern? Thanks.

  • Thanks. I did, and got terrific answers that really helped get a plan together. He was very helpful in working out which passes would be most cost effective for our needs and found some deals for us regarding mountain excursions we were planning.

  • Hello Jen,

If we were to purchase a Swiss rail pass could it be used to travel from Paris to Zurich or would that trip require a separate ticket purchase?

    Thanks,
    Gail
