    Hi Bob and Claris,

The Rail Europe website (www.raileurope.com) is a "one-stop" shop where customers have the option to purchase either regular point-to-point tickets or a rail pass, as well as reservations for passholders and various city passes and tours.

For an itinerary like the one you described, it is likely that your best option would be to purchase a France Rail Pass instead of regular point-to-point tickets. With a rail pass, you would also just need to purchase reservations for any trains on which they'd be required.

If you'd like assistance, I would recommend contacting one of our rail travel experts at 1-800-622-8600. They would be able to make sure you get everything right. Our current hours are 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM CT Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT on Saturdays.

In the meantime, you can have a look at the France Rail Pass here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-ticke....

To get to Mont St. Michel, you would take a train to Rennes, where you would then switch to a bus. The France Rail Pass would cover you on the train from Paris to Rennes but not on the bus from Rennes to Mont St Michel.

Trains from Paris to Rennes are TGV trains on which reservations would be required in addition to the rail pass. For travel with a rail pass, you would check reservation costs by clicking the 'Seat Reservations' tab on our homepage (www.raileurope.com), entering a route ('Paris' to 'Rennes'), and indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. the 'France Rail Pass').

Since the pass doesn't cover the buses from Rennes to Mont St Michel, you would have to purchase a separate ticket. Tickets for a bus from Rennes to Mont St Michel are able to be purchased on our website; you would just have to type 'Le Mont St Michel' as your destination city when entering the route. Additionally, you would have to click 'No' where it asks "Are you traveling with a rail pass?" after you type in the cities. This is just how you would get the ticket costs and schedules to display, since the rail pass is not valid for this segment.

The main rail hubs for the Loire Valley include Tours, St. Pierre des Corps, Amboise, Angers, Orléans, and Saumur. A rail connection from Rennes to any of these cities would involve going back through Paris en route; however, there may be some connections via Le Mans.
