Validate my swiss pass in the train from the Italy

Hi~!! I have a swiss travel pass and want to move from venezia to interlaken via brig and spiez. I have the trenitalia ticket from Venice to Domodossola. Is it possible to get my swiss pass validate in the train to Brig? The train information is like below. Venice 16:20 - Brig 21:16 / Brig 21:20 - Spiez 21:53 / Spiez 22:10 - Interlaken 22:40. For this routing, I want to use the ticket from venice to domodossola and swiss travel pass. I want to know that if it's possible to use my swiss travel pass without seat reservation from domodossola to brig and where I can get my swiss pass validate in this routing. Thanks for your help~!!

Hi Yunjeong. Thank you for your question.

Yes, you can get your Swiss Travel Pass validated on board the train from Venice to Brig. However, this train does require reservations in addition to your rail pass, and the reservations would even be required just for the segment from Domodossola to Brig. For travel with a Swiss Travel Pass, you would need to have reservations booked at a 'Passholder 3' rate for the segment from Domodossola to Brig. With that said, Passholder 3 reservations from Domodossola to Brig are currently not able to be booked from anywhere outside of Europe. Therefore, you would purchase these Passholder 3 reservations at the ticket window before boarding the train in Venice. When you do so, just be sure to mention that you already have the ticket from Venice to Domodossola and the Swiss Travel Pass.

Hi Yunjeong. I just wanted to follow-up on this one, as I don't actually believe it would be necessary for you to purchase the 'Passholder 3' reservations for the segment from Domodossola to Brig. My initial thought after reading your question was that Domodossola is considered a Swiss station (even though it's in Italy), so the Swiss Travel Pass should be all you'd need from there to Brig, and that does turn out to be true. Therefore, you should be able to use your Trenitalia ticket for the segment of this route from Venice up to Domodossola, and then you would just show your Swiss Travel Pass to be covered for the segment beyond that from Domodossola to Brig. I apologize for any confusion.
