    Hi Sohini,

Yes, any rail pass that includes Germany does cover the trains between Munich and Salzburg. Trains between Munich and Salzburg are Railjet trains.

If you wish to purchase reservations, you would do so by searching the route on our homepage (, checking the box that says ‘I have a rail pass’, and then indicating the type of rail pass with which you'll be traveling (i.e. a ‘Eurail Select Pass 4 Countries’).

Also, due to an error on our site, please be advised that the 'Later Trains' link does not function when you pull up the results of a search. Therefore, if you wish to view departures at a different time of the day, please adjust your preferred departure time from the initial search screen.

Generally, the trains between Munich and Salzburg can be reserved once within 90-120 days of an intended departure date.

The Eurail Select Pass is what is known as a 'flexipass'. A 'flexipass' allows for a set number of travel days that must be completed within a longer time frame (that longer time being 2 months in the case of the Eurail Select Pass).

'Travel days' on a flexipass refer to how many separate days you plan on using your pass. A 'travel day' is a 24 hour period from midnight to midnight. You may take as many trains as you wish during the 24-hour time frame and still only use one day of travel on a pass.

For instance, if you were to take a day train from Munich to Salzburg and then take a return train back to Munich later in the same day, it would only use up one day of travel on your rail pass. In contrast, if you were to take that return train to Munich on the next day, it would use up 2 days of travel on your pass.
