Vienna to Rome FCO Airport, not available to book online?

I am trying to book a ticket from Vienna to Rome FCO online and getting the message "unable to book online". I hope to reserve a seat/bed that will allow time to connect with an 8:55 PM flight on Monday, October 12.

  • Hi Toni.

The most feasible way to get from Vienna to Rome would be to take the direct overnight train. There is no daytime connection from Vienna to Rome that would enable you to connect to your flight.

The night train would take you into the city of Rome, where you would have to connect to another train that would take you to the Rome FCO Airport.

You would purchase tickets by clicking on 'Find Fares & Schedules' on our homepage ( and entering the route. For a route such as this, however, you would have to piece together the connection by doing a separate search for each segment. Additionally, for tickets and schedules to the Rome FCO Airport, you would have to type it as 'Rome Airport' when you enter your search. Therefore, you would do one search to access the night train from Vienna to Rome and another search for connecting trains from Rome to 'Rome Airport'.

Lastly, when you do your search to access the night train from Vienna to Rome, you may have to enter a time close to the specific hour of the train's departure time. Therefore, when you go to enter the criteria of your search, you would want to choose some time in the evening as your preferred departure time. By doing this, you will get the night train to display on the next screen, and you can proceed to add the ticket to your itinerary.

When you pull up the results of your searches, be sure to note the station of arrival in Rome for the night train and the station of departure for the connecting trains to the airport.

The night train from Vienna to Rome is the 'Allegro Tosca' EuroNight. From the city of Rome to the airport, there are either Leonardo Express trains or regional trains (Regionale).
