    Hi Ginny,

You would check schedules and purchase tickets by entering a route on our homepage, www.raileurope.com.

A daytime connection from Prague to Amsterdam takes about 12.5 hours in duration and involves changing trains once in Berlin along the way.

An overnight connection from Prague to Amsterdam takes 15 hours and involves changing trains once in Duisburg along the way. The segment from Prague to Duisburg would be on the actual night train.

For routes such as these, you would just piece together the connection by doing a separate search for each segment. Therefore, for the daytime connection, you would do one search for trains from Prague to Berlin and another search for connecting trains from Berlin to Amsterdam. For the overnight connection, you would do one search to access the night train from Prague to Duisburg and another search for connecting trains from Duisburg to Amsterdam the following morning.

    Prague to Amsterdam (daytime connection)

Prague to Berlin - EuroCity (EC) trains

Berlin to Amsterdam - InterCity (IC) trains

Generally, trains from Prague to Berlin are only able to be booked once within 60 days of an intended date of departure, while trains from Berlin to Amstedam are able to be booked once within 90 days of an intended date of departure.

    Prague to Amsterdam (overnight connection)

Prague to Duisburg - 'Kopernikus' City Night Line (CNL) train.

Duisburg to Amsterdam - InterCity Express (ICE) or InterCity (IC) trains.

Generally, the City Night Line night trains can be booked 90 to 180 days in advance of a departure, while trains from Duisburg to Amsterdam can only be booked once within 90 days of an intended date of departure.

To view the most possible options when you do these searches, you would want to choose the specific hour for each set of departures you wish to view (i.e. '01 pm' for trains that depart during the 1 o'clock hour, '02 pm' for trains that depart during the 2 o'clock hour, etc). Ideally, you would be able to click the 'Later Trains' button that appears at the bottom of the list of schedules that display. However, there may currently be an error on our site that prevents more trains from displaying when you do this.

To access the night train from Prague to Duisburg, you would want to choose '06 pm' as your preferred departure time when you enter the criteria of this search.

You would check the type of sleeping compartments being offered for a night train by clicking the 'View' button (underneath the fares that display) when you pull up the results of your search. Regarding the night train from Prague to Duisburg, it would be important to note that our website currently might only display certain types of sleeping compartments (i.e. Triple compartments but not Singles, Doubles, or Couchettes). If our website only displays one type of compartment, then you would have to call us in order to inquire about the others. We can be reached at 1-800-622-8600.
