What lines are included in a Britain rail pass? Does it cover some metro city lines, such as the London Overground?

I want to get a rail pass for Britain. Exactly what rail travel is included. For example is travel on some metropolitan city lines included, such as London Overground?

Thank you for your question, Christopher.

Rail passes generally do not cover metro/subway networks within cities in Europe, as the objective of a rail pass is more to cover train travel between different cities. With that being the case, the BritRail Passes do not cover the Tube or the London Overground. The BritRail Pass covers trains between different cities in England, Scotland, and Wales. The BritRail England Pass cover trains between different cities in England only.

For certain cities, including London, we do offer city passes that will cover local public transportation. To be covered on the Tube and London Overground, you would purchase either the London Travel Card or the Visitor Oyster Card.

For the London Travel Card, you would click here: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/london-travel-card/index.html.

For the Visitor Oyster Card, you would click here: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/visitor-oyster-card/index.html.
