I’m excited

What rail pass do I buy for traveling in Germany and one day to Salzburg?

We will be traveling from Frankfurt to 12 or 13 cities in south Germany. On the last day we are going to Saltzburg. We will then travel back to Munchen to fly home.

I would also like to know the cost for this.

    Hi Melissa,

Even though Salzburg is in Austria, the German Rail Pass does cover trains between Munich and Salzburg. Therefore, based on the information you provided, all you would need is the single country pass for Germany, the German Rail Pass.

From Munich to Salzburg, there are Railjet trains and Meridian trains on which the German Rail Pass is valid. These trains follow along the scenic Rosenheim-Salzburg Railway for a duration of the trip.

On the Railjet trains, reservations are recommended as a supplement to the pass. In contrast, the Meridian trains don't accept reservations, so the rail pass would be all that is needed to board. Generally, the Railjet trains between Munich and Salzburg can be reserved once within 90 days of an intended departure date.

I'm sorry, as we are not able to provide or verify prices over this forum. For the German Rail Pass, you would click here: https://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/german-rail-pass/index.html
