I’m frustrated

When seat reservations aren't reservations (or how do I keep from being tossed out the door)

My girlfriend and I booked a German rail pass and tickets for an August trip. We booked the pass and reserved seats back in June, and received a standard email confirming the booking. A little later we received an email with seat numbers and promise of eticket numbers to follow. We never did receive the email with the PNRs or eticket numbers. Eventually my girlfriend contacted Rail Europe, with about 10 days to go to our trip and the customer rep. assured her the passes were booked. We finally got the passes a full month after placing the order and barely 5 days before we left for Europe. We never received an official mail about the reservations, but a customer rep. gave us a set of numbers over the phone. When we landed at Frankfurt, we discovered that the DB system does not recognize any of the numbers that Rail Europe provided. Worse, while the passes are okay, we've found that the seats supposedly reserved for us have been reserved by others. And of course, Rail Europe's phone support is not working during the day (German time) barring a small window. How do we get our seat reservations confirmed?

  • Hi John,

We are sorry to hear that you are not able to print your reservations at the kiosk at the station in Germany. I am sending an email confirmation of your tickets that will contain the PNRs that you will need to print your tickets.

The instructions on how to print your tickets can be found here: http://www.raileurope.com/rail-help/h...

If you have any further questions, please contact us at 800-622-8600 and one of our travel consultants will be able to assist you futher.

    Thank you,
    Jen
