Will I still get on the train when reservations are recommended?

When looking at the reservations and it says they are recommended, does that mean you will still get on the train, however you may not have a seat? There is a train I must be on to catch my flight and right now it says "This train doesn’t require travelers with a rail pass to purchase a seat reservation. While reservations are possible on this train, at this time we are unable to find reservations that are compatible with your rail pass. You may inquire at the train station to check if reservations are available."

If I can not get on this train, there is no point in me getting a rail pass. I don't really care about having a seat or not, I just need to make sure I can be on the train.

Thank you for your help!
